"Throughout his life, The RZA studied the Supreme Mathematics of Gods and Earths and many world religions. From these studies, he noted that both the Supreme Mathematics and the religions he connected to considered the number seven as divine and symbolic of the consciousness. When it came to writing The Tao of Wu, The RZA decided to divide his text into "Seven Pillars of Wisdom." Each pillar reflects a key turning point in his life that he wishes to share with his audience. He does this because he hope his readers will learn from his experiences and connect to or be inspired by his personal journey on the path to enlightenment."

RZA says"we all have natural things in us that prevent us and help us. We all have evil nature in us and we fight against it". Do you believe we all have good and evil?

I believe we all have good and evil. A quote from a J Cole says "We all got angels, We all got demons". I believe we come into this world mentally as innocent, but that innocense can be taken very soon. It all depends on people, situations, and circumstance. I believe we all have a good side, the side that gives us reason and hope. But i also believe we all have a bad side, which could be many things. We could be this way for many reasons. We cant blame anybody for our mentality, but there are contributing factors. Everyone had to grow up differently with different parents, different looks, and different stories. I believe in balance. You have to balance your angels with your demons. You cant change the way life turned out. You can just balance it, the best you can, day to day, because circumstances change. I do believe you can become completely evil. Ive seen it. But i dont think if you have an evil side you can be completely good. If thats fair to say. You can always try. It doesnt have to come out in daily life. But your demons will always be with you. Its how you deal with them.

Yes, I believe we all have good and evil (hypothetically speaking) because I can't speak for everyone in the world. If that question were solely based on me and my beliefs/opinions I'd answer no, reason being is that we are all born good but evil is alive and always searching for a new vulnerable victim to corrupt. As you age you develop common sense and the ability of being self efficient which once was not so common or easy, remember who formerly taught us what is frowned upon based on what they didn’t approve of? Our parents provided us with the basic necessities and knowledge of life which kept us happy and healthy, within time we became capable of knowing what is essential to stay healthy, happy, and safe. You’ll always remember the knowledge given to you from either a loved one or someone you respect simply because that’s how you were taught and raised. You’ll always keep those things in perceptive as you age but at the end of it all you’ve got to be the one who determine the representation of what is truly best for you but in some cases unfortunately people get overly consumed by what others believe in and lose themselves.
DeleteIn society evil is depicted much more than good, why is that? Take for example the news: something that is viewed by millions of people, constantly on even outside of your home and is usually the first place to figure out breaking news or coverage on a situation. They notify the world on issues whether they are good or bad but why is it that they always have to surfeit the bad news. When I mention “bad” I’m talking more about people dying, pedophiles, controversial issues that may cause us to get angry or even worst violent.They purposely overkill anything that society considers to be bad or blatantly evil and the sickening part about all this is that evil is lurking around every corner in our society, yet they continue to promote it. Mankind has gotten a custom to hearing about occurrences that always end up with others either dead, in pain or suffering but the worst part is that it doesn’t even seem to faze most people anymore. The media constantly brainwashes people by updating us with evil situation but solely pinpointing the tragedies, negativity and pain that has come from a situation. The media will never change but that doesn’t really matter, you’re always capable of change and that’s the most important thing. You can’t expect the world to change and become good if you can’t even change yourself to be good, you’re the only one that has the choice to let evil enter you and therefore you’re the only one that can release it. Being good leads you to be rewarded with happiness but everything happens for a reason, some people need to experience evil in their lives to hopefully understand that good is the only and the best way to live their lives.

I do not believe in good or evil as they are projections of pain and kindness in my opinion. I see that infants while greedy and times are also kind. Children need to be taught kindness and need to be given love to share it. Pain will always circulate and cause frustration and fear, pain can also be caused by accident as well. These feelings dull with kindness but also can dull kindness given before it.
DeleteI believe we start with neither 'good' or 'evil' but with curiosity and ignorance/innocence. Terrible and kind people are not genetic qualities as most people who are kind have received kindness and have gone through hardship, while terrible people may have a different reaction and may manipulate others for their own agenda.
I do believe a good person can become terrible as well as in the redemption of those who have done terrible things. Do I believe that one side of 'good' and 'evil' can be lost? I think that it is possible that a society can teach values of kindness and love that stop most if not all from being terrible. Though there are still mistakes and hardship which may lead to lashing out and inflicting pain on others. Overall, I feel that if human beings have the needs of love, care, and support met to healthy degrees they shall in turn be kind. Though there are always problems in which an individual needs different or more intensive needs met for kindness to develop.
In the book The TAO of WU, THE RZA, page80. It says" God is alive within your - terror and desperation summon his force. Faith is a pillar of life that many confuse with hope. It is beyond hope, for hope can be applied without knowledge; faith is the heart -projected actions of knowing. It's wisdom before it reaches understanding".

I believe the is trying to say god is withing you and he will keep you safe with his force. Faith is a pillar people believe to be hope but it's more than that because it can be applied without being known. If you have wisdom you will reach understanding.

Why did the RZA feel like he was living after watching "The Thirty-sixth Chamber"?

RZA felt like he made a transformation in his life, like the shaolin trainer San Te in the movie " the thirty-sixth chamber". RZA feel like he started with no knowledge but work his way"trained" to gain wisdom and knowledge of self and god.

RZA felt like he was living after watching the "The Thirty-sixth chamber" because he believed the movie was a reflection of the reality he was living in. Things that were happening in the video were things that were happening in his neighborhood, in his life. The judgement in the film brought his own story alive and RZA felt like he was living that life, he was able to reflect upon every part of that movie back to his life which is why he felt like he was reliving after watching "The Thirty-sixth Chamber"

Why does RZA have such a strong love for kung-fu films? What movie does he say changed his life in 1983 and why?
ReplyDeleteRZA has a strong love for kung-fu films because he uses them as an inspiration to his life and to see the hardships. He connects the films into the life he’s living and basically uses it as a tool guide if he ever comes across a similar situation like that in the movie to real life. Kung-fu movies inspired RZA so much that he even started doing push-ups and other sorts of work outs including buying Kung-fu books to have a better understanding about it.

When the RZA talks about the "tiny dark spot in your heart, the size of a tip of a needle" he is talking about ego. Everyone has ego in them; its the source of self-esteem. When a person doesn't have enough self-esteem, reaching one's full potential is almost impossible. When a person has too much ego, one begins to see oneself as better than other people, and believes to be invincible. The RZA talks about Infinite having "to much of the wrong kind of heart". Infinite let the dark spot(his ego) grow and take over his heart, and it got him killed. Losing control of one's ego is the downfall of many people.

ReplyDeleteThe hearts sutra is a buddhist text and most important of all ,which came from the sutra known as the " The perfection of Wisdom". This sutra is connected to oneself and being able to see the reality ,trusting the real heart and not your ego and finding the truth.

RZA talks about Dragon Ball Z in which he elaborates and explain the real history behind the cartoon and what really makes it “one of the deepest cartoons”. How does he make a connection to religion even though the cartoon’s overall plot mainly seemed based on fantasy? If you ever watched Dragon Ball Z before reading this novel would you have even guessed it was based on a story from the sixteenth-century or even involved any sort of religion? If yes explain why.
